Andrea's Birthday Gift

I've been wanting a little something special for Sarah when she comes home.  You know, a little something handmade, unable to be purchased, etc. etc.  Combine that with Andrea's birthday this past weekend and the result was a new invention that emerged from the workshop.  Hang with me here!...I'm calling it a "sleeper box."

With Samuel, we always hated getting up in the middle of the night to get him to feed, and we disliked even more trying to sleep with him in the middle of the bed and wondering if we would roll on him in the night.  Hence...the sleeper box.  It was made with a 6/4 black walnut bottom and rock maple sides, so it's heavy but not going anywhere in the night.  I also designed it to fit perfectly in our bookcase headboard on our bed, just in case we need a night with our bed back.  There's no finish yet on the box, as it's hot off the sander, but I'm thinking about a non-toxic when cured salad bowl finish.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  The Celtic cross walnut inlay took some serious time into the night, but I wanted something unique, as there is certainly none like our Sarah Evabelle.

Ok, I know what you're thinking:  "...but Jason, typically, it's never a good thing when a person is put in a wooden box."  Well, let me just say there is nothing typical about this little girl of ours.  She's been breaking trends and busting norms since she entered our world.
